Plate Final

CMUL 1 vs. 2 Derry and District FA

Hard luck to the CMUL boys in losing to a strong Derry team in the Plate Final. Eli Ward scored the one CMUL goal which came from a penalty late on in the game. Both Eli and Darren played a big part in their campaign, Darren scored twice in the first game and Eli made two assists in the tournament. Well done to the lads from MUFC.

Game 2:

CMUL 0 vs. 1 Donegal Town

On a poor pitch and in windy conditions it didn’t turn out to be the Cavan and Monaghan boy’s day. They had a promising first half with United man Darren Geoghegan making a great through-ball in the opening minutes but it couldn’t be converted by the striker. Eli Ward got the attention his skills deserve and the Donegal team knew he was a big threat. Bad news came when Eli came out a challenge in a bad way twisting his knee and was subbed. CMUL were then awarded a penalty but missed and Donegal added to the drama by scoring a late winner. Hard luck lads. Next game is against Limavady United.

Game 1:

Cavan Monaghan Underage League 3 vs. 0 Ballinamallard

United youngster Darren Geoghegan(above) scores twice as the CMUL ease to victory in their first game of the competition.

    Hi Joe,
Cheers the CMUL Kennedy Cup team(1998) did very well this season indeed winning the Bowl in June. For a league this size our teams have been doing brilliantly and have some great talent coming through. I don’t know much what there plans are reg new season you’d need to talk to their manager.
